Port Perry, Ontario (May 31, 2017) – The opening round of the 2017 Canadian Superbike Series(CSBK) took place this past weekend (May 26-28) at Shannonville Motorsport Park in Shannonville, Ontario.
“Everybody’s taking it 100 percent seriously, and we’re running at a very high level of competition, and that’s what I’m here for,” says Szoke. “I feel great. I’m comfortable. I feel like I have nothing to prove like when you’re younger, so I’m just trying to enjoy it, and it’s taken a bit of pressure off me so I can focus on riding well.”
In the exciting Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike race, Hindle rider Tomas Casas, on the Peterborough Cycle/Hindle/Yamaha YZF-R6, powered to the front to get the top spot on the podium in his first ever Pro win. Casas had just returned from a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Italy attending the VR46 Master Camp, where he was mentored by Valentino Rossi. Kristopher Garvie (Kawasaki ZX-6R) came in a close second, followed by Mitch Card (YZF-R6) in third.
“I knew Garvie wasn’t going to pull away, so I just tucked in and behind him, settled, and played the waiting game. Once I found the right moment, I made my pass and just pushed hard to the end. It was my first Pro win, and it couldn’t have been any better.” said Casas.
The next round of the 2017 Canadian Superbike Series takes place at Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ont., June 8-11. This will be the first time that CSBK hosts a race at the popular Southwestern Ontario venue. For more information visit www.csbk.ca.
