Canadian-based international Superbike racer Dan Kruger has signed to race for the factory-supported BMW Racing Team Penz13.com for both the legendary Isle of Man TT and the “fastest race in the world,” the Northwest 200. Team principal Rico Penzkofer has been busy so far this season and recently made headlines when he announced that Simon Andrews would be racing for his team as well for the same events. The German-based team has years of experience in road racing and, with their direct support from BMW Motorrad, expectations are high for the 2014 season.

“Like most racers around the world, it has always been a dream of mine to not only race the TT but also be aligned with such a world class team on factory prepped machinery,” said Kruger. “I can’t wait for our first test in Europe next month! If all of this wasn’t enough, to have Simon Andrews as a teammate is really fortunate.”

Kruger’s race season just got busier, as he is also entered in the Suzuka 8 Hour Endurance race in Japan this July with a Japanese team and has a full Pan Delta Superbike championship season in China which kicks off March 21-23 in Zhuhai, China. “I really need to thank Rico Penzkofer and the entire Penz13.com BMW Racing Team for making this opportunity happen, allowing me this chance of a lifetime,” Kruger added.

“I am really looking forward to this season in particular having a Canadian racing for us at the TT and also giving Simon Andrews a chance to show the world that he is back from serious injury and he
means business,” said team principal Rico Penzkofer.

The Northwest 200 in Northern Island is the fastest road race in the world, with speeds in excess of 212 miles per hour. The race is in mid-May and weather usually plays a significant factor. The TT has a week of practice at the end of May and then a week of racing during the first week of June. The IOM TT is widely recognized as the most dangerous race in the world. Kruger will travel to the Isle Of Man very shortly, meeting with officials for a mandatory two-day “newcomer” instruction as well as to participate in several laps with Milky Quayle (Associate for TT Newcomers) to become familiar with the course and road racing in general.

“I couldn’t be more fortunate to have such a stacked team behind me for support,” Kruger continued. “If you look at what Rico’s team and Simon have accomplished in terms of racing over here, I couldn’t have better supporters. Let’s not forget that Andrews was teamed up with John McGuiness last season in the TT Legends team, so surely his knowledge will be a bit of a help for me.”

Rico Penzkofer adds, “Dan has really dominated over in China these past few years and is ready to take on a new challenge. He shows the maturity needed to safely take on the TT. I am really looking forward to working with him and I am pretty confident he will adapt to the BMW very quickly.”

The team would like to thank BMW Motorrad, Pirelli, Motul, Frank’s Autowelt, ZF, SK Support, GB Racing and Nature Power.
