Reigning Canadian Superbike Champion Brett McCormick is undergoing a successful recovery after an injury sustained in April during the eni Superbike World Championship Series at Assen. McCormick recently posted on his Facebook with updates on his recovery.

“I got clearance from my doctor about 2 weeks ago to start doing physio, and get back into shape. I’ve been working hard everyday and the neck is feeling awesome. I’m suffering from a bit of whiplash, but the bone is healed up 99% and I don’t get any pain from it anymore,” he said. “I’ve been on my road bicycle pretty much everyday for the past 2 months so my lungs are ready to get back at it, just need the rest of my body to get back into shape.”

The 20-year-old suffered a crash during round three on his Effenbert Liberty Racing Ducati 1098R and broke the C5 vertebrae in his neck. He also suffered from several cracked vertebrae in his mid-back and a broken right thumb.

The dedicated racer spent some time at his local motocross track this past week, and hopes to continue to spend some time there before he heads back to Europe.

“I’m supposed to fly back overseas next week to hang out at the Brno round and get clearance from the doctors there to race in Silverstone,” said McCormick. “Everything has gone according to plan with the recovery and should be all good to make my return there!”
