Race winning Pro Sportbike rider Connor Campbell will make his debut with Waznie Racing in the final Canadian Superbike round of the season at Shannonville.
Campbell, who won in the rain at Shannonville in June and backed that up with a podium in the AMP make-up race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, will make his first ever Pro Superbike start aboard the Waznie Racing Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.
“I’m super excited to be finish off the season on a superbike! My goal when I started racing was to end up on the Bridgestone CSBK Pro Superbike grid and it’s going to happen in a couple weeks.
“I just want to thank Canadian Kawasaki Motors and Jordan Szoke and the whole Waznie team for giving me this opportunity!”
14-time Canadian Superbike champion and Waznie Racing team principal Jordan Szoke was happy to bring Campbell in under the official Kawasaki racing effort tent.
“Connor has shown his speed and belongs on a Superbike. I’m happy to give him a shot and know that he’ll represent Kawasaki, Waznie Racing and all our sponsors well on track at Shannonville.
“It means a lot to me to help younger guys step up into Pro Superbike”.
The 24-year-old out of Ottawa, Ontario will not race in the Pro Sportbike class at the final round, instead opting to focus on the Superbike program.
While it’s yet to be determined if another rider will fill in on the Ninja ZX-6R, team sponsor B&T MacFarlane will join Campbell on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R prepped by Waznie Racing.
“I’m stoked to bring B&T MacFarlane on board with me for this next step of the journey” says Campbell.
He adds that working with Jordan Szoke is a special opportunity he’s eager to experience.
“To be able to work with Jordan Szoke, a total legend in our sport is beyond cool. I’m really looking forward to learning what I can from him,” says Campbell.
The final round of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike championship will take place at Shannonville Motorsports Park, east of Toronto on September 15-17.
