Rookie Pro Superbike pilot, Paul Macdonell, currently based out of Grande Prairie, AB, has been enjoying great success racing with EMRA, earning several Superbike titles since 2019. With support from Yamaha Motor Canada, Paul is now setting his sights on the 2023 Bridgestone Canadian Superbike National Championship (CSBK) aboard Acme Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R1’s.
Macdonell: “I’ve enjoyed racing in Edmonton, that’s where home is …but this endeavour is about taking the next step. I couldn’t be happier with the Acme Motorsports program and I’m excited to put my best efforts into racing CSBK!”
The team will attend all CSBK events in 2023, while operating out of Burlington, ON based speed shop Acme Motorsports. CSBK veteran Craig Atkinson and his partner Suzanne Robson are looking forward to returning to the National Championship, this time with a new rider on the Pro Superbike grid.
Atkinson: “We’ve been observing Paul’s career with great interest, and we believe that he’s ready to meet the challenge of racing with Canada’s best! On a more personal level, we’re thrilled to return to the CSBK paddock under the Acme Motorsports banner.”
The Bridgestone Canadian National Superbike Championship will host a five-event calendar for 2023 with the season opener scheduled for May 19-21 at Shannonville Motorsports Park.
The Acme Motorsports Superbike Team would like to thank their supporters – Yamaha Motor Canada, Blue Wave Energy, Rebel Fit Nutrition, Flexiglass, Vass Performance Cycle, AP Carbon Line, Arata Racing Works, and Southern Pride Performance; as well as Gary Christie and Nadine Vass.
