TORONTO, Ont. – Calabogie MotorSport Park, located about an hour from Ottawa, will open the 2015 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship schedule with a round scheduled for June 12-14.

This marks a return for the track to the national schedule. Calabogie also hosted the opening round of the 2008 and 2009 Canadian road racing championship.

“We are pleased to welcome Calabogie MotorSport Park back to the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship,” said Colin Fraser of Professional Motorsports Productions, which organizes the series. “The track is a popular one with our competitors thanks to its challenging nature and excellent amenities. It is a scenic venue and that, combined with its proximity to Ottawa, should make this a popular stop on our tour.”

The 5.05km (3.05-mile) Calabogie circuit features 20 turns and includes a 609m (2,000-ft.) straightaway. Opened in 2006, Calabogie MotorSport Park was designed by world-renowned track designer Alan Wilson. The facility is the home to the Multimatic Motorsports automobile design and engineering operation. It is also the home track for Pro 6 Cycle, which conducts track days at the venue in addition to its role as official supplier of the spec Dunlop tires to the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship.

The town of Calabogie borders the Madawaska River and Calabogie Lake, which offers beautiful scenery and a wide variety of recreational activities.

“We are thrilled to welcome the best motorcycle road racers in Canada back to Calabogie MotorSport Park,” said the venue’s track manager, Jane Blinn. “The Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship has provided exciting competition in the past and we look forward to replicating that drama next summer. Combined with the presence of Pro 6 Cycle, we think the addition of a national road racing round at Calabogie will enhance its reputation as one of Canada’s premier motorcycle venues.”

In conjunction with the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship round, Pro 6 Cycle has scheduled a Trackday the Thursday before the race weekend, June 11, along with Trackdays from Saturday June 6 to Monday June 8. Pro 6 plans to release a full Trackday schedule for the 2015 season shortly.

Calabogie joins Castrol Raceway in Edmonton as a new venue on the 2015 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship schedule. The series recently announced a doubleheader at Castrol Raceway for July 10-12.

“We are very pleased to see the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship continue to grow and expand into new markets,” said Jim Kiritsis National Manager, Service and Mopar. “The return of Calabogie MotorSport Park to the schedule allows us to bring the Mopar name into the Ottawa region and gives us access to a vibrant community of motorsport enthusiasts.”

Jodi Christie of Keene, Ont. will enter the 2015 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship wearing the number one plate after wresting the title from Jordan Szoke last summer aboard his Honda Canada / Accelerated Technologies Honda CBR1000RR.

Brantford, Ont.’s Szoke, Canada’s winningest national Superbike racer, is expected to return in 2015 in an attempt to capture an unprecedented 10th national title. Szoke won both previous Canadian championship events at Calabogie in 2008 and 2009.

Final details on the remainder of the 2015 Mopar CSBK schedule are expected to be announced shortly.
