October 8, 2014- Stacey arrived at the track on Friday night of the RACE season final (Sept 27-28) at Shannonville Motorsports Park in time to do a photo shoot requested by RACE. While that was going on the final preparations were being completed on the primary OCM Racing/FTR/Honda Canada CBR600RR.

The forecast for the weekend was sunny and warm and it did not disappoint. There was a good turnout for the final RACE event of the season.

Saturday morning was cool but dry. Stacey took advantage of some extra track time with other classes but still struggled to match her pace from the previous round. Qualifying was in the afternoon. In AM600 Stacey qualified third, a second off the pole time but gaining an extra point towards the championship. She qualified fourth in AMSBK so front row starts for both finals.

Sunday morning warm up sessions were better with Stacey improving her lap times from the previous day.

At the start of the AM600 race Stacey moved up to second place and the three leaders started to pull away. Within a few laps a gap opened to third place and Stacey was working hard to close the gap to the leader. On lap seven she set the fastest lap of the race 1m07.297s, just 0.03 seconds outside the class lap record. The gap was reduced but it was not enough for the win. Stacey was aware a top three finish was enough to secure the 2014 AM600 RACE championship.

Stacey decided to sit out the Pro 600 race and focus on the AMSBK final as she was leading the championship.

Unfortunately the other contender crashed  in that race and could not start the AMSBK race. In the race Stacey got the hole shot against the liter bikes. She held onto the lead until lap three but a mistake at the hairpin allowed the superbikes to make a pass on the back straight, although she did briefly get back into second.

Stacey crossed the line third but was promoted to second after a post-race technical ruling. Stacey had had a big enough points lead going into the race to secure the AMSBK championship too.

“It has been a really good season” said Stacey. “The goal was to improve throughout the year and it was nice to round it off winning both RACE AM championships. I would have preferred to have been able to race with Tomas in the AMSBK race and wish him a speedy recovery. There are so many people to thank for making this year possible. OCM Racing (Amir, Mike, Franklyn and the team). Honda Canada for all their support. Pat Milligan for all the long hours he put in before and during the season. Jon Cornwell for giving me a great setup all year. My parents. All the fans and supporters. There are many others and I am grateful to all of them.”

Thanks to RACE for putting on the BBQ & band. Finally thanks to all the CRCA and medical staff without whom it would not be possible to go racing.

Stacey competes with support from OCM Racing, Honda Canada Inc., FTR, Arai Helmet Americas, Fast Company, Pro 6 Cycle-Dunlop, R&M Electrical, Powersports Canada, Bluestreak Racing, Hindle Exhaust, Mikeymoto, International Supershow, Club Ouest Gym, Lucky Stripe and Ville St-Lazare.
