The confidence-inspiring control offered by ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is a new option for all 2014 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® model motorcycles. The five-model Sportster® line also features updated hand controls and brake components, improved service access, and an optional H‑D® Smart Security System with a proximity-based, hands-free security fob.

Even when the road is clean and the weather is perfect, riding with ABS offers an added level of security that many riders appreciate.”
Since its introduction in 1957, the Harley-Davidson® Sportster® motorcycle has combined nimble handling and distinctive style in perfect tune with the charismatic beat of an American V-Twin engine. The Sportster® line’s evolution continues for 2014 with five models that are among the most accessible motorcycles in the Harley‑Davidson® line. From the Dark Custom™ menace of the Iron 883™ and Forty-Eight™ models to the easy-handling ride of the SuperLow™ model; from the radical chopper rake of the Seventy-Two™ model to the Factory-custom options of the 1200 Custom model, there is a Harley-Davidson® Sportster® model to fit the stature, vision, and attitude of any rider.
New on Sportster® Models for 2014
New Brakes: The front and rear braking system of all 2014 Sportster® models has been redesigned to offer premium performance. Front rotor diameter is increased from 292 mm to 300 mm. A restyled front-brake caliper features a more rigid design and dual 34 mm pistons that are 36 per cent larger than the previous 25 mm pistons for increased braking power. A new high-efficiency aluminum front master cylinder offers reduced friction for an overall improved brake feel. Rear brake rotor diameter is unchanged at 260 mm, but the rear caliper is restyled and updated with dual 38 mm pistons. Front and rear brakes are fitted with Original Equipment braided stainless steel brake lines that resist expansion and enhance brake feel. The clutch lever mount has been restyled to complement the styling of the brake hand control.
Optional ABS: Offered as a stand-alone, Factory-installed option for all 2014 Sportster® models, ABS is designed to help the rider maintain control during braking events, especially those that happen in less-than-optimal conditions. The components of the Harley-Davidson® ABS have been designed and packaged to be virtually invisible, preserving the uncluttered styling of the area around the wheels. This is not a linked ABS, so the rider maintains full, independent control of both front and rear brakes.
Integrated Electrical System: An all-new electrical system incorporates a new analogue speedometer with digital tachometer, restyled ergonomic hand controls, an updated wire harness and voltage regulator, and a new oil tank and side cover design that makes it easier to access and service the battery and diagnostic terminal. The new hand controls include a left hand trip switch to toggle through screen displays on the new speedometer, including an odometer, trip meter, and the new gear indicator and RPM display.
H-D® Smart Security System: Available as a stand-alone, Factory-installed option for all Sportster® models, the Smart Security System features hands-free operation with a proximity-based security fob and new keyless ignition. When the rider leaves the motorcycle with the fob, the security system is automatically enabled and the ignition is deactivated. When the rider approaches the motorcycle with the fob, the security system is automatically disabled and the motorcycle may be started immediately. Sportster® models may be ordered without the Smart Security System, and will then be equipped with a traditional keyed ignition.
New Exhaust Emissions Features: An updated exhaust system features fully-welded header pipes and new heated oxygen sensors linked to a closed-loop emissions circuit, all meant to improve emissions performance.
H-D1™ Factory Customization: Two new custom paint sets for the Sportster® 1200 Custom model are available through H-D1™ Factory Customization – a Web-based program that allows Customers to select Factory-installed options that personalize fit, function, and style in more than 2,000 combinations. By choosing from different wheels, paint, and engine finishes, the Customer can dramatically alter the look of the motorcycle. Different combinations of foot control location, seat choices, and handlebar can be selected to adjust the fit of the motorcycle to rider stature. Customers can expect to be riding their new bike in as little as four weeks from the time an order is placed with an authorized Harley-Davidson® Retailer. The new paint sets are: Charcoal Pearl Eagle Graphic and Mysterious Red Paisley Skull.
New Colours and Graphics: Eleven new colours and two-tone colour combinations, plus new graphics, will be offered on the 2014 Sportster® models (not all colours are available on each model).
· Three new Hard Candy Custom™ metal flake colours: Hard Candy Volcanic Orange Flake, Hard Candy Voodoo Purple Flake, and Hard Candy Chrome Flake.
· Five new solid colours: Amber Whiskey, Blackened Cayenne, Morocco Gold, Mysterious Red Sunglo, and Charcoal Pearl.
· Three new two-tone colour combinations: Mysterious Red Sunglo/Blackened Cayenne Sunglo, Amber Whiskey/Brilliant Silver, and Charcoal Pearl/Vivid Black.
