HALIFAX, NS – Atlantic Roadracing League (ARL) announced a new motorcycle rider safety product today that will soon be implemented at Atlantic Motorsport Park for upcoming Regional and National road racing events. The new design will incorporate waste plastics into soft barriers around the 2.5 km circuit at Atlantic Motorsport Park.

“We are eager to get the new barriers in place. They will be much easier to work with, more cost-effective, and much safer. We look forward to working with global governing bodies in racing such as FIM and FIA to seek their recommendations,” says Andrew Murray, ARL President. “This program falls in line with world leading recycling programs that make Nova Scotia a leader in waste-resource management, while providing new uses for recyclable plastic that may have been destined for landfill sites.”

The barriers will be designed to keep riders safe and divert waste plastic materials from landfill. While developing the product concept, ARL received direction and guidance from the Municipality of East Hants, Halifax Regional Municipality and Miller Waste Systems. RRFB Nova Scotia provided funding support through the Research and Development program.

“ARL demonstrates the kind of thinking we like to support,” says Brennan Gillis, Business Development Officer with RRFB Nova Scotia. “Should the testing prove successful, it will be another made-in-Nova Scotia solution to aid solid waste diversion.”

Atlantic Roadracing League Inc. is the promoter of all Atlantic motorcycle road racing, riding academies, and track days at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. For information on these and other activities visit www.facebook.com/AtlanticRoadracing or www.atlanticroadracing.com.
