The Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club (WMRC) starts its season with a doubleheader of competition on May 10-11. The club makes its home at Mission Raceway Park’s road course (Mission, BC), which features a nine-turn, 1.3 mile road course and has several classes of racing ranging from vintage to superbikes, all with racers competing against each other in the hopes of clinching the No. 1 plate by the season’s end.

Racing gets underway at 9 a.m., with the final race of the day happening at 4 p.m.

The pits are open to the public, letting fans get up close and personal with the racers and their machines. Spectators will enjoy an excellent view of the action with grandstands located at the most exciting corners, close to the pits and other facilities. For an even better view of the action people can sign up to be a corner marshal, which includes deploying flags, picking up crashed motorcycles and communicating on the radio with race control.

The WMRC invites everyone to come witness the thrills and spills of motorcycle roadracing action at British Columbia’s one and only premier roadracing circuit.

Admission is $10 per person, with children 12 and under free. Practice days are free admission to everyone.Gates are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the races run rain or shine. Mission Raceway Park is located at 32670 Dyke Rd.

About the WMRC:
The Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club (WMRC) began in 1959, and enjoyed many years of competitive racing at the Westwood circuit in Port Coquitlam with regional and national races being held there on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the Westwood circuit was closed in 1990 for land development, but thanks to its very dedicated members, the WMRC was able to survive without a home track for over 10 years.

In 2001 the WMRC was invited to hold a test & tune day at Mission Raceway Park to see if it was feasible to run motorcycles on the road course. It was deemed to be safe enough for motorcycle road racing, and the first full WMRC racing season started in 2002. Yearly improvements to Mission Raceway Park including the reconfiguration of Turn 1 and the deployment of Air fence in a few key corners has resulted in a safer, faster and more enjoyable track.

The club has enjoyed very exciting and competitive racing over the years with the likes of past Canadian Superbike Champions Steve Crevier & Steve Dick and World Superbike competitor Brett McCormick as well as some very fast regional racers.

The WMRC promotes fast, aggressive riding in a safe, professional and controlled environment. A sense of community responsibility is accomplished by getting motorcycle riders who may want push the limits on the street to instead “take it to the track” and raise their riding skills to a higher level.

The WMRC offers several classes of racing from Vintage motorcycles to Superbikes with everything in between.
