At the final rounds of this year's Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship series, held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Dunlop offered qualifying tires to the top 10 riders for a separate, 15-minute final qualifying session. This was new for many of the competitors, as qualifying tires have not been used in the series for several years. Jeff Williams was one of the riders in the top-10 session, and I was able to get some data from the Accelerated Technologies Honda CBR1000RR that he was riding for the weekend.

The Vintage Road Racing Association puts on an incredible racing extravaganza. The club has an incredible array of machines, some of which were built before Mosport’s first event back in 1961.

Couturier Racing Appeals Fuel DQ at CTMP

Mopar Pro Superbike team Couturier Racing is contesting the disqualification of team rider Kevin Lacombe in Sunday's Pro Superbike race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the use of illegal fuel.

For 2012, the Canadian Superbike Championship mandated the use of unleaded fuel, and competitors have had the choice of using their own unleaded pump fuel or Sunoco 260 GT Plus, which was available from Brooklin Cycle at each event. But at Sunday morning's rider's meeting at CTMP, teams in the Pro Superbike class were informed that they would be supplied with 20 litres of the Sunoco fuel by the series, which they must use in competition for that day's final round of the series. The decision to make the fuel mandatory for Sunday’s race was due to recent concerns that some teams were possibly using unsanctioned race fuel.

Canada’s Best Set For CSBK Finale at CTMP

(BOWMANVILLE, ON – August 17, 2012) The championship titles will be up for grabs as racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s final major event shifts to the two-wheel variety when Canada's top motorcycle riders compete in the Superbike Doubleheader Weekend, August 24-26.

Headlining the weekend is the Mopar Pro Superbike class, where seven-time champion Jordan Szoke will look to claim an unprecedented eighth national title.

The Brantford native, who is riding a BMW Motorrad S1000RR this season, has now won three consecutive races and holds a commanding 66-point lead in the Championship standings heading into the season-ending doubleheader at his home track. A race win is worth 50 points and there will be two full points races this weekend.
