The Shannonville R.A.C.E. SuperSeries resumes action for the 2018 season this weekend with a full slate of races on Friday May 11 through Sunday May 13th.

The opening round coincides nicely with the Mopar sponsored CSBK National road race series, so a large contingent of Pro racers are expected to descend on Shannonville. The early race will give plenty of opportunity for riders to work out the cob-webs and fettle their machinery prior to the national event slated for May 25th to 27th.

In the CSBK National Series, riders such as 12 time Canadian Superbike Champion Jordan Szoke will compete against a host of upstart contenders, all vying to dethrone the long time reigning champ. Look for Montreal’s Samuel Trepanier, last seasons top contender, to run upfront and make Szokes bid for yet another winning season a difficult one. Youngsters Bodhi Edie and Ben Young also had strong finishes and any one of them could steal the win at any time. Also look for Shannonville regular Matt McBride to put on a good showing as he contends for front-runner status.

SuperSeries champion on both Superbike and 600 Sportbike, Newcastle’s Elie Daccache will look to defend the double-championship he earned last season. Kingston rider “Jammin” Jeff Williams will be a force again this year and will be in the running should he string some wins together in Pro Superbike. Local rider Mike Raniowski will join Kingston’s Chris Fehr in a battle to take the title away from Daccache for the Pro 600 title, while Royal Distributing’s Michael Leon will look to regain the #1 plate he lost to Daccache last season in Pro Superbike.

Amy Szoke will set aside the little bike she raced last season and contest the Amateur Superbike class aboard the Mopar Express Lane BMW Motorrad Team Plus One BMW S1000RR. Szoke has been a front runner in both Canada and the US and should do well.

Also next weekend, the Mopar CSBK Series will host a non-Championship weekend for the new Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike category at the opening RACE SuperSeries regional event at Shannonville Motorsport Park’s Pro Circuit. The event will be conducted in the exact same format as a National weekend for the Lightweight category, so competitors can get use to procedures prior to the points-paying opening race at the same track two weeks later. Motosports of Trenton will award the top Yamaha rider in the class with a $250 cheque, while West City Honda continues to be the official sponsor for the qualifying of the Liqui Moly ProSportbike class.

Mopar CSBK Series staff will be on hand to conduct these events, and logistics partner Brooklin Cycle Racing will bring the Official Series Dynojet Dyno so that measurements can be taken after every on-track session for Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike.

The opening weekend promises to be a very busy and exciting weekend and fans will be treated with some of the best motorcycle racing to kick off the season.
