Twenty-two-year-old Riley Toth from Medicine Hat, AB can add the title of world champion to his rapidly expanding resume having won the motorcycle class at the NHRA Summit Racing ET Championships at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA on November 12, 2017.
The two-time and reigning Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association Super Bike champion represented the Northwest division of the NHRA in the season ending race again the champions from the other six NHRA divisions. Toth, who also won the 2017 Motorcycle championship at his home MHDRA drag strip earlier this year, won his place in the Summit Racing Finals at the Division 6 Race of Champions held at the Woodburn Dragstrip in Oregon this September.
Racing aboard a 2002 Kawasaki ZX-11 borrowed from his younger brother Zach for the Pomona race, Toth dispatched his competitors in the first two elimination rounds to move into the final against defending champion Curtis Spracklin of Omaha NE. Running against 8.60 second dial in time, Toth’s reaction time of 0.011 seconds combined with an ET of 8.605 seconds to give him the holeshot win against Spracklin who ran a 8.614 second ET against an 8.61 second dial in but had a slower reaction time of 0.023 seconds.
