(BOWMANVILLE, ON – August 19, 2017) Jordan Szoke, of Lynden, ON, scored his third consecutive, and 12th overall, Mopar Pro Canadian Superbike Rider’s Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Saturday – part of the Superbike Doubleheader weekend, Canada’s biggest motorcycle road racing event of the year.
Szoke, won Round 5 of the 2017 season to secure the championship.
Piloting the No. 1 BMW S1000RR, Szoke started from pole for the 20-lap feature, but relinquished the lead on the first lap to Samuel Trepanier of St-Isidore-de-Laprairie, QC. Trepanier, riding the No. 14 BMW S1000RR, ran up front for most of the race with Szoke pursuing in second. Then on lap 19, Szoke passed Trepanier through turn 2 and held on to win by 0.251 seconds. Trepanier crossed the line ahead of Bodhi Edie, of Warman, SK, on the No. 5 Yamaha YXF-R1 who finished third.
Saturday also featured a championship race in the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike division. Tomas Casas, of Peterborough, ON, on the No. 46 Yamaha YZF-R6 finished second in the class’ Round 5 race, securing the points to lock up the Rider’s Championship – Ripley, Ontario’s Mitch Card, piloting the No. 12 Yamaha YZF-R6 won the race. Other race winners included Ottawa, Ontario’s Jason Thoms (No. 36 BMW S1000RR; Magneti Marelli AM Superbike), Oakville, Ontario’s Cameron Walker (No. 112 Kawasaki ZX-6R; Shoei Helmets Amateur Sport Bike) and Jared Walker of Oakville, Ontario (No. 14 Kawasaki Ninja 300; Kawasaki Ninja 300 class).
Tickets are still available at the gate for Sunday’s action, featuring the finale races of the 2017 season including Round 6 of the Mopar Pro Superbike class. Off-track, fans can watch Jordan Szoke’s Extreme Show presented by GP Bikes – the show features a talented team of Extreme Show riders performing a high-adrenaline freestyle motocross show.
