The Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council has released its retail sales analysis for October, 2012.

In motorcycles, October sales fell slightly when compared to November, 2011, at just 77 units, or -3.9 percent%. Street, for the first time in many months, did not gain for the month. Dual Purpose led all categories with a 20 percent gain, and mini bikes and scooters were up over the same month.

The four largest provinces were slightly off, or close to the month’s numbers from last year. Ontario was six units above that level, or 1.2 percent.

Year-to-date, sales continue to stay above last year’s numbers by 3 percent. Again, the four largest provinces remain at or near the YTD level of 2011. Quebec has the higher number at 7 percent.

ATV sales in October had an impressive gain of 14 percent over October, 2011. Ontario was the major part of the gain with a 24 percent rise over last year. Quebec and Manitoba were also over October last year. Only BC experienced a small decline of 45 units in the month. Year-to-date, the overall sales rose to 6.7 percent.

Only Quebec was below its numbers YTD at just -1.3 percent. Some of the other provinces have impressive gains though.
