The FIM has released the official calendar for the 2013 MotoGP World Championship with a total of 18 races taking place.
Changes from the previously published provisional calendar include the opening round in Qatar being pushed back to April 7, as well as the non-inclusion of the Argentinian GP.
Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta arrived in Argentina on Tuesday morning to make his way to the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit to see the ongoing work that was being done on the track.
“I have travelled to Argentina to learn more about the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit and to appreciate the work they are doing at the racetrack,” Ezpeleta said. “The new layout will be fast, with a very original design, so I wanted to congratulate Governor Zamora, the Tourism Minister Enrique Meyer and the organizer, for their work in having created a great circuit.”
Ezpeleta also stated that he “had travelled to Argentina to clarify and ensure that in April 2014 it will be hosting the GP of Argentina”, after overcoming some drawbacks.
He then added that like at any circuit there would have to be some tests with Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP machines, which are likely to be made official around June 2013.
