As discussed a few weeks ago, there was a time when racing on closed, public roads was a thing for Canadian motorcyclists, primarily in Quebec. Given our 1950s and ‘60s history of racing on old, frequently abandoned airfields across the country, this should come as no surprise. In the early 1970s, motorcycle roadracing was undergoing a growth period, largely due to the development of reasonably priced, sporty Japanese machinery.

One of the great things about producing a more-or-less weekly blog is the opportunity to switch gears on the fly. I had planned to write about MotoGP this week: the possible Qatar return of Honda’s Marc ‘much-missed’ Marquez, as well as the possibility of Andrea Dovizioso competing sometime soon for Aprilia’s premier squad. However, at the end of last week, the Motorcycle Confederation of Canada (MCC) Competition Council ruled that CSBK series king Jordan Szoke would be eligible to run his typical ‘number one’ plate on his Canada General Warranty works Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja during 2021.

TORONTO, Ont. – Video coverage of all six rounds of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship has been confirmed for the coming season, with races to be shown on the series website www.csbk.ca.

The weekend package will include lights-to-flag action from the Mopar Canadian Superbike feature class, Sunday’s Canadian Harley-Davidson XR1200 Cup Series, and the Saturday race of each weekend’s Honda CBR250R National Race Series doubleheader.
