What a great trip! That is all I have to say after being able to live my dream and come down to Florida to race with my family. This experience however, while being eye opening was also a ton of fun. I made some amazing new American friends and got to ride against the best riders in North America!
Throughout my trip thus far I have been through some incredible highs and lows. From my bikes not starting and not making it into the main events I have pretty much done it all now. I had struggled to adjust to all the new tracks but I definitely learned a lot. It was cool to have support from not just my family and friends but to have it from readers of my blogs and friends of friends.
My best finish throughout the trip was a third and in Canada I wouldn’t usually be satisfied with that but after seeing how hard I had to work for it and how fast everyone here was I am content with that result. It seems hard to believe that one mistake can put you out of contention for the main event but that is really how it works down here and is how I had it most of the time. It is unlucky but true as every time I was in a good spot I blew the groove in the corner or got a bad start.
Nonetheless, I learned a lot and had an amazing time. I never thought I could be in a heat race with 10 guys, finish fourth and not make the main but that’s just how it is down here. They only take 12 guys for the mains regardless of track size and in my first race at Oglethorpe Speedway there were 31 guys looking for those 12 spots. Wish I could say a few of those guys were slow but that’s just not the case!
I would like to thank everyone from Inside Motorcycles, Amsoil/Leeson Synthetics, Zdeno Cycle, Tri-county Sandblasting, my family, Hesmer Motorsports and all of my followers for making this trip possible and so enjoyable. Also I couldn’t have done this without help from my uncle Paul and a spare bike from Steve Ball. Hopefully I can come back next year and do even better.
Signing off, Braden Vallee # 107
