June 2, 2014- On May 24th and 25th the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association brought their show to the Toronto Motorsport Park for the first race of the 2014 Screamin’ Eagle V–‐Rod Destroyer Eastern Series.
True to form, Owen Sound’s Chris Fox and Burlington’s Pete Thomson continued their rivalry qualifying first and second respectively, and going head to head in the final elimination round. When the smoke cleared Thomson and his Rocky’s Harley Davidson machine, ran a 9.215 second ET, edging out Fox who put up a time of 9.217 seconds.
Although Fox was relegated to the runner up position, over the course of the weekend he added three new CMDRA records to the ever growing list of accomplishments of the Fox Harley Davidson Racing team.
The elimination rounds also featured a father and son showdown when Thomson found himself in the opposite lane across from his son Dan in the semi finals.
Despite beating his father at the light, Dan was unable to hold off the senior Thomson, who took the win with a 9.215 second ET.
Race fans should anticipate seeing more of Dan Thomson.
In addition to qualifying in third spot on the ladder, the younger Thomson set the fastest speed of the weekend, hitting 145.7 MPH aboard his Kitchener Harley Davidson sponsored machine.
Next up the CMDRA heads to Harley’s at the Beach at the Grand Bend Motorplex on June 14 and 15 for the second round of the Screamin’ Eagle V–‐Rod Destroyer series and the first round of the National Points Championship series.
