The KTM Canada Red Bull Race Team achieved another strong haul of results at Round 2 of the 2023 Canadian Triple Crown Series in Kamloops, with defending 250 Pro Class Champion Ryder McNabb capturing perfect 1-1 moto finishes. Teammate Kaven Benoit took home fourth place in 250 Pro, while 450 Pro Class contender Jess Pettis also took P4 overall.
McNabb rode to the top of the timesheets in the 250 Pro Class qualifying, closely followed by teammate Benoit in second position, with the duo separated by only 0.108s as the checkered flag flew, setting up for a hotly-contested day of competition.
McNabb on the #1 KTM 250 SX-F machine holeshotted the first moto, leading every lap, and finishing with a comfortable margin in each outing as he claimed coveted 1-1 moto results. He has taken over the championship lead, reclaiming the red plate leading into Round 3.
Ryder McNabb, KTM Canada Red Bull Race Team 250 Rider: “I had a good day today! Getting two good starts, and two solid motos was awesome, and ended the day up with 1-1 moto scores. I’m excited to keep the momentum rolling into Calgary.”
250 Pro Class teammate Benoit battled to second position in the opening moto of the round, before an early race fall in moto two saw him charge his way back to fourth place, from as low as seventh on-track. The result marks another positive step in the former champion’s comeback season, currently second in the standings.
Kaven Benoit, KTM Canada Red Bull Race Team 250 Rider: “It was a tougher race for me with a couple of small crashes hampering my day. It’s all on me – I need to clean those mistakes up for next weekend and come back swinging. On a positive note, the starts have been really good, and big thank you to the team for providing me with the best equipment.”
It was a consistent day for 450 Pro Class rider Pettis, who powered his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to third place in qualifying. From there, Pettis would launch to two fast starts, before finishing up with a pair of fourth place finishes for fourth overall on the day.
Jess Pettis, KTM Canada Red Bull Race Team 450 Rider: “Today wasn’t the best for me here in Kamloops. I struggled to find the comfort I needed and the track was tough. Next weekend is another shot to rebound strong, so I’m excited to head to Calgary.”
