BOWMANVILLE, ON – (August 18, 2017) Canada’s biggest motorcycle road racing event of the year, the Superbike Doubleheader, is underway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).

The event, running through Sunday, features the nation’s top motorcycle road racers as they compete for the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship.

Lynden, Ontario’s Jordan Szoke, piloting the No. 1 BMW S1000RR, scored the pole for Saturday’s Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship Round 5 with record-setting qualifying time of 1:20.520, eclipsing the mark he set last year. Szoke comes into the weekend looking to secure his third consecutive (and 12th overall) Mopar Pro Superbike Championship. Challenger Kenny Riedmann, of Belfountain, ON will start 5th. Riedmann sits 60 points behind Szoke in the championship standings.

In other action from Friday, Samuel Desmarais, of Lasalle, QC, piloting the No. 17 Kawasaki ZX-6R scored the pole for Saturday’s Shoei Helmets Amateur Sport Bike class with a 1:28.041, while St.-Jerome, Quebec’s Jean-Francois Aubin, riding the No. 99 Suzuki GSX-R600 (1:25.598) will start on pole for Magneti Marelli AM Superbike Round 5. Closing out Friday, Mitch Card, from Ripley, ON, will start at the front of the grid for the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike race after setting the fastest qualifying lap on the No. 12 Yamaha YZF-R6 (1:24.400).

Saturday’s schedule includes a full slate of exciting racing action as well as family-friendly off-track activities highlighted by Jordan Szoke’s Extreme Show presented by GP Bikes. The show features a talented team of Extreme Show riders performing a high-adrenaline freestyle motocross show. Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee and eight-time National Champion George Morin is the Grand Marshal for the event and will be on hand to give the Riders Start Your Engines Commands.
