Montreal-based road racer Michael Leon will continue his long-standing relationship with Royal Distributing who will again be the team’s title sponsor. Royal Distributing is one of Canada’s leading retailers of aftermarket clothing, parts and accessories for on and off-road motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and bicycles. Royal Distributing serves customers via four superstores throughout Ontario and through their popular catalogue.
The weapon of choice will be a new 2016 BMW S1000RR with support from BMW Motorrad Canada. Last season, Michael demonstrated the BMW to be a true “turnkey” Superbike. He had multiple front row starts, several top five finishes and ended the season 6th overall, despite 2 DNFs crashing out of the lead at St-Eustache and crashing from 3rd place at Edmonton.
Experienced track day riders are invited to try the S1000RR first hand during Pro 6 Cycle track days at Calabogie. This demo program was very popular last year and left many riders impressed with the BMW machine. Please visit www.pro6cycle.com or email trackdays@pro6cycle.com for details.
This season the action will be televised on TSN.
Kyle Blakely from Windmill Motorsports and Machine will continue with the team as crew chief, a role he excelled in last year. A challenge will be the working with the team’s new BMW HP Datalogger, which will should greatly help to with race setup. Jonathan “Corndog” Cornwell will continue as a suspension consultant.
Other sponsors for 2016 include Shoei Helmets USA, Speed and Strength Canada, Hindle Exhaust, Armour Bodies, GianMajor Inc., MWR Airfilters, Vortex, Bickle Racing and Dave Smith.
Practice for round one begins today for Round 1 to be held on May 29th at Shannonville Motorsport Park. Come and watch the racing live! Tickets are available at http://leonracing.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dcfa8552640ff75c38bac22bc&id=12ecb4af3d&e=60efd52bdb
