The final round of the Pan Delta China Superbike Championship will be held at Zhuhai International Circuit on September 14-16, and it looks to be nothing short of spectacular. The doubleheader will determine if reigning Superbike Champion Huang Shi-Zhao of Yes Yamaha will keep the crown or hand it over for the first time ever to someone from North America: Canadian Dan Kruger.
With a record number of entries from Europe, Australia, North America and Asia, this event looks like it will be the biggest event ever for Superbikes in China. Officials are expecting close to 30,000 spectators and close to 40 entries in the Superbike class. Both races are being broadcast live throughout China on the largest sports channel, CCTV5. It is also available in North America with select cable packages.
“I have a very busy week ahead of me,” stated Kruger from his Kawasaki Headquarters in Hong Kong. “I just landed late last night in Hong Kong and I am doing an interview with a popular Bike publication in a few hours for a feature story on my season. Tonight I will head into China and Tuesday-Thursday I will be testing my A bike and setting it up for the dry and also my B bike as we need to prepare for possible wet weather, and we will set it up specifically for that. Friday morning I will call in to a Radio Show in the USA for an interview (Thursday night Eastern Time). I then qualify and race through the weekend. Sunday night is the annual Awards Banquet in China and Monday I am on a flight back to Canada.”
“Wish my team some luck, as we will need it,” Kruger added. “We basically need to win both races to clinch the championship and that will not be an easy task.”
www.dankrugerracing.com will have updates and a post-race release will follow next week on Inside Motorcycles.
