Pro Superbike rider Tomas Casas (Casas Racing) has partnered with Acme Motorsports (Burlington, ON) and Yamaha Financial Services to take on the Pro Twins class in the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) aboard the very first MT-07 racebike to ever be built in Canada.
Craig Atkinson, co-owner of Acme Motorsports, has passionately felt for years that the next trend in motorcycle road racing is a middleweight twins-based market. So much so that he built the bike himself and has successfully raced it in both Twins classes at Southern Ontario Association of Racing (SOAR) Regional events. Naturally, he was very excited to learn that CSBK was taking steps to develop and add Twins classes to their program.
“My MT-07 has been a labor of love and is one of the most enjoyable bikes I’ve ever ridden. I look forward to seeing a Yamaha on the Pro Twins grid and am certain that Tomas, whom I trust as much as I trust myself, will have a great time with it.”
Casas, who made his CSBK debut in 2012 and has been a Pro rider in the series since 2015, is looking forward to his first Twins class battle against Jeff Williams, with whom he raced frequently during his first superbike season. “I”ve never raced a twin bike before, so I’m excited to board Craig’s fine built MT-07. I think it will be a fun ride and hopefully we can spark some interest for more participants to join the Twins class in the future! Thank you to Acme Motorsports, Yamaha Financial Services and CSBK for making this all happen. I’m looking forward to the extra seat time and there’s no better track to do it at than CTMP!”
Catch the action live at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park from August 18th – 20th and/or on TSN later this season. For tickets go to https://canadiantiremotorsportpark.com/products/copy-of-superbike-tripleheader-weekend.
