Based out of Orillia, ON, Gryphon has been dedicated to designing and creating motorcycle riding gear since 2020 with a focus on street, cruiser and adventure riders, including jackets and pants made specifically for female riders. The company’s focus on protection is evident in the inclusion of CE Level 2 armour in each piece of gear they offer, with the use of multiple materials ensuring that each item meets the requirements of its intended use.

A new addition to the Gryphon lineup for 2024, the Women’s Rebel Waterproof Jacket relies on a combination of a breathable waterproof membrane and strategically placed venting to accommodate use in multiple seasons. The 600 Denier ballistic cotton outer shell and YKK zippers further highlight the quality of the jacket, while the reflective 3M shoulder accents provide an additional element of safety.

The arrival of Spring weather offered the chance to get out for a ride with this new jacket this week. Overall, the fit was good. It was a little big on me, but I wore just a t shirt underneath it. It would have been nice to have the straps at the bottom of the jacket to be able to adjust the fit. The removeable armour was decent for sure, I especially like the back protector that comes standard with the jacket.

Storage is no issue with the Rebel jacket thanks to the variety of pockets. I used the two on the inside, one zippered for my cards and the other side for my cell phone where it is not zippered and just slides in.

The quality of the material was impressive and the zippers worked well with no issues. It’s especially nice how it adjusts to tighten around the waist for my curves.

With its overall quality, including the material of the jacket, design and level of protection I would absolutely buy this jacket at the price point it’s at. It can be hard to find a women’s jacket that fits properly, but with this jacket I could tell that it’s designed for a women’s body.
