While searching through the Motovan catalogue looking for a new pair of gloves suitable for track days, I came across the FIVE gloves lineup. With over 15 years of experience, designing and producing motorcycle gloves for off-road, street and racetrack applications, the French manufacturer, which takes its name from the number of digits on each hand, offers a variety of designs and price points.

While my initial attention was drawn to the company’s top tier RFX Race model, the team at Motovan suggested that a review of the entry level RFX3 would provide insight into the quality that is present within every FIVE product.

Available in a black and white colour combo as well as the basic black style that arrived on my doorstep, out of the box, the quality of the RFX3 gloves definitely surpasses the $209.95 MSRP advertised on the Motovan website.

Featuring full grain leather construction with additional perforated leather on the palm, the gauntlet style gloves feature thermoplastic rubber (TPR) sliders on the palm and cuff as well as thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) protection across the metacarpal knuckles, which includes built in venting as an added benefit.

Where I find that medium size gloves from most other manufacturers fit slightly big, the RFX3 gloves in this size fit perfectly. With this in mind you may want to go up a size if you are typically between sizes. Velcro adjustment closures on the wrist and forearm ensure that the gloves remain perfectly in place.

Out on the track, during a full day of riding, the RFX3 gloves proved to be incredibly comfortable further highlighting the value of these gloves. While they do not have the same level of features as the company’s flagship RFX Race gloves, for sport bike riders and anyone starting out with track days, the RFX3 gloves from FIVE offer a great combination of design, protection and value.

Available in sizes S to 3XL, visit www.motovan.com for complete details.
